The midwife was trying to give a newborn baby a bath but she had other ideas and started wriggling and walking around.
The extraordinary event was captured on video at Santa Cruz Hospital in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
In the video, one of the nurses said in Portuguese: ‘Oh my gosh, the girl is walking. Good gracious.’
Another one shouts, ‘Ju, Ju, come and see this’.
The midwife said: ‘Merciful father. I was trying to wash her here and she keeps getting up to walk. She has walked from here to here.’
Babies normally start walking at 9 to 12 months when they have gained enough strength to support themselves. In some extreme cases, there were few reports and claims that their babies have started walking as early as 6 months. Based on that, 'assisted' walking is normally done within 2 months before they can stand and walk on their own.
This fact made the footage more amazing considering that assisted walking and walking motion normally do not happen until babies have enough strength to support their bodies.
If the event had not been captured on video, people will probably find it very hard to believe.
According to the midwife holding the baby girl: ‘Heavens above. If you told people what has just happened no one would believe it unless they saw it with their own eyes.
